River Updates by email

Choose up to three stations or reviewed rivers and receive a free summary of recent recorded levels.

Choose Daily or Monday Weekly

Daily updates describe current available observations and supported changes over about 24 hours. Monday Weekly updates summarise the past seven days where the readings support it. Both choices are free. We aim to send between 07:30 and 08:00 Europe/Dublin time, but delivery may vary.

You can select up to three places. A reviewed river counts as one selection and includes its listed gauges; it does not mean every gauge in the wider catchment is covered.

Confirm and stay in control

The signup service asks for your email address and explicit consent, then sends a confirmation link. Opening the link alone does not start updates; you review and confirm first. You can change your choices or stop future emails through Manage River Updates. Each email also provides an unsubscribe route. Read the email privacy and deletion information before signing up.

What the readings mean

River Updates use available, time-stamped gauge observations. They may be delayed, missing or revised, and changes are only shown when supported by the data. Northern Ireland DfI Rivers emails include the latest available reading; seven-day movement and extrema are not yet available for those gauges. A gauge height is not the river depth and readings at different gauges cannot be compared as if they share one reference level. Check the linked source or station page, where available, for its recorded time and limitations.

These emails are not flood warnings, forecasts, an all-clear or advice that conditions are safe for boating, fishing or other activities. Follow official weather warnings and relevant local authority advice when safety matters.
